Meet Roy Wooten

Executive Director, The Crucible Project

Roy Wooten serves as the Executive Director of The Crucible Project, bringing decades of experience in counseling, ministry, and leadership. His journey reflects a deep commitment to personal transformation, relational health, and spiritual growth.

Background and Education

Roy earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Abilene Christian University. In recognition of his extensive work in Christian relationships, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Grace Global Seminary in 2017.

Professional Experience

Throughout his career, Roy has served in various roles, including pastor, ministry executive, coach, and counselor for nonprofits and churches. He is best known for helping thousands of people improve their relationships through humorous, transformational, and inspirational retreats, seminars, and coaching sessions.

Authorship and Speaking Engagements

Roy is the author of "Unstuck: 7 Steps to Break Free and Live Courageously." Alongside his wife, Devra, he co-authored "The Secret to Lifetime Love" and developed the "Life Together Forever" couples retreats. He also authored "Full Throttle Into Fatherhood." Their passion for strengthening families has resulted in frequent requests to speak at conferences and churches.

The Crucible Project

Roy began volunteering for The Crucible Project after his initial weekend experience in January 2009. He served as the volunteer Regional Leader of the Houston Crucible community for its first six years and has been involved in retreat leadership since 2014. In March 2019, Roy was appointed Executive Director, leading initiatives to support personal transformation through retreats and coaching.

Personal Life

Roy and Devra have been married since 1988 and reside in San Antonio, Texas. They have two married children and one grandson. Their passion for strengthening families has resulted in frequent requests to speak at conferences and churches.

Roy's dedication to fostering authentic relationships and personal growth continues to impact individuals and communities worldwide.
