Unwanted Patterns in Your Life
At Crucible, we believe that the known costs of staying stuck are perceived to be less than the unknown costs of taking the risk to move out of being stuck. If you move out of your stuck state, you fear the risk of what might happen.
For example: If you change your eating habits, you might never have the joy that your favorite foods bring you again. Or worse, you might go for it, do everything right and still may not lose the inches that will allow you to wear the smaller sized clothes you want. If you have the hard conversation you need to have with you spouse, it might lead to a prolonged argument and more discord. Or worse, it might just push them to leave and seek a divorce attorney.
“You’re not stuck. You’re just committed to certain patterns of behavior because they have helped you in the past. Now those behaviors have become more harmful than helpful. The reason why you can’t move forward is because you keep applying an old formula to a new level in your life. Change the formula to get a different result.” – Emily Maroutian
Committed to a Pattern
We also believe that part of the reason you stay stuck is that you have ingrained patterns of dealing with stuck situations. Early in life, you reacted to a stuck place with something that worked for you – kept you safe – relieved the tough emotions. Because it worked, you tried it again. Now it is an automatic behavior that “just happens.” You feel like we can never break it.
The reason you can’t stop doing the unwanted activity that you are doing is because you are unconsciously committed to a pattern of reaction that no longer serves you well. You are thirty-five and instead of dealing with the stuck place maturely, you react like you did when you were in elementary school.
Try Something New To Get a New Result
You should be commended for all the ways you have tried to get at this issue in your life. You have spent a great amount of energy trying to break free. You probably tried everything your pastor said would help. You may have set with other in a group struggling with the same thing. In order to get a different result, try something new.
The way forward toward breaking the pattern begins with awareness about what is really driving you. It requires taking a hard look at yourself. To move forward, you must take a look back. It is taking a deep dive into your core wounds at the soul level that keeps you from being all that you and God want you to be.
Over 6,900 souls have done just that at one of our Men’s Retreats or Women’s Retreats. They took a deep dive, faced the wound, wrestled with God about it, and come out the other side. They are committed to building a world where all men and women live with integrity, grace and courage, fulfilling their God-given purpose. They are ready to help you.
