Finding Peace in an Overwhelming Season

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:7

December can feel chaotic. The calendar fills, the noise increases, old hurts surface, expectations abound. And yet in the middle of it, Christ offers peace. Not just a momentary calm, but God’s peace—steady, sustaining, deep.

But peace doesn’t just drop in like snow—unbidden and untouched. It invites our participation. We have to slow down, acknowledge what’s really going on inside, and make space for God’s presence to meet us there.

“Peace begins when we pause long enough to name what is actually happening in us—fear, sadness, longing, disappointment, or joy we’re afraid to feel.” — Roy Wooten

This week, carve out time to sit still. Ask yourself:

  • What am I really feeling?
  • What have I left unexamined?
  • Where am I pretending instead of being honest?
  • What would it look like to receive Christ’s peace in that place?

You may find that your deepest unrest comes not from external demands, but from internal disconnect. When we bring our whole self—our fear, our longing, our hope—to God, He meets us where we are and begins to steady us.

If you’re longing for deeper peace, clarity, or spiritual grounding this season, consider a men’s or women’s retreat or coaching with The Crucible Project. Peace isn’t merely an outcome—it’s a posture of presence with God and others.
