The Courage to Receive the Gift of Christ

Most of the season focuses on giving—which is good—but the heart of Christmas is receiving: God coming to us in Christ. That reception requires a heart open, vulnerable, honest. It requires letting go of our self-constructed control and letting Him in.

When Jesus came, He entered into our brokenness, our fear, our hope. He took on the human condition so we could receive the divine. And in that reception lies healing, freedom, transformation.

“Receiving Christ is not a one-time event; it’s a lifelong posture. It is the beginning of every healing journey and every courageous act of transformation.” — Roy Wooten

Reflect this week: What part of my heart am I still keeping locked? What am I afraid Christ will find or ask of me? Receiving Him means admitting what we’ve hidden, welcoming what we’ve avoided, and daring to trust that His light can heal.

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” – Revelation 3:20

This isn’t a one-time moment of conversion. It’s a daily choice to open the door, to welcome Christ’s healing, to let transformation ripen.

If you’re ready to take the next step in receiving Christ’s love and integrating it into your daily life, meet up with a local pastor or other Christ-followers in your life.  Or reach out for a phone conversation with a Crucible leader. This season is rich with invitation—may you answer it with courage.
